DLSU-D celebrates National Disaster Consciousness Month

De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) takes part in the celebration of National Disaster Consciousness Month this July, as the institution unites with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The celebration’s theme this year: Pamilya at Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag Unlad ng Bansa’ mirrors the emerging awareness of the Filipino families on the value of preparedness in times of calamity and disaster.  The observation of National Disaster Consciousness Month was established through the virtue of EO 137 which was signed by former President Joseph Estrada in 1999.


PNP Chief urges contingency meeting for APEC summit

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Director Ricardo Marquez urged a two-day contingency meeting for the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) security meeting in August at Cebu City. Together with the Task Group Cebu, Marquez ensured that delegates from the upcoming APEC Summit should have enough security.According to Marquez, they were preparing thoroughly, because 21 delegates from different countries in Asia.are expected to attend the APEC summit. Before Marquez was appointed as the new PNP Chief, he was already assigned to do security operations in the APEC. 


Apple Feature “Siri” does not know Bruce Jenner

Apple’s knowledge navigator voice feature “Siri” corrects iPhone and iPad users who call the former Olympian and now trans-woman Caitlyn Jenner in her former name, Bruce Jenner. Whenever someone asks the feature about Bruce Jenner’s information, it would refer to Caitlyn Jenner’s instead. The feature will also tell the users that the former athlete’s real name is Caitlyn Jenner. Jenner was formerly married to television personality Kris Kardishan-Jenner. The retired American athlete shocked the public when she openly revealed herself as a transgender-woman. She is now included in the list of most famous openly trans-women.


 NU beats UB in its 2nd V-League win

National University  (NU) won against University of Batangas (UB) yesterday, July 19, 2015, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 with the final score of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-19. Jaja Santiago of the Lady Bulldogs headed the team with 15 spikes, 3 blocks, and 5 services aces while Krissa Madalogdog of Lady Brahmans topped with only 6 points. Winning in its second game, NU placed the top of Group A while UB hasn’t won any games yet alongside PUP.


DOST kicks off 5-month science nature tour

The Department of Science and Technology in Region 4A (DOST-4A) spearheaded a five-month science nature tour which started last July 16, 2015 at the Splash Mountain Resort’s new Oasis Hall in Los Banos, Laguna. With the help of some government agencies, the project “Trailblazing the Road to Science Nation Tour” was created in acknowledgement of “global trends in turning challenges into opportunities, according to Alexander Madrigal, DOST-4A Director. The department is designated to control and give support services to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to enhance productivity and competitiveness, boost environmental protection, provide occupations and lift the typical living all over the region.
