DLSU-D offices are ISO accredited
DLSU-D offices are now certified for ISO 9001:2008 Management System. These five units were the verification that the institution observes and follows the standards set by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which produced world class specifications for trade extending from technology, food safety, agriculture, health care and education. The ISO accredited offices were Aklatang emilio Aguinaldo – Information Research Center, Center for Innovation Learning Programs, Center for Student Admissions, Center for Student Admissions, Language and Literature Department and the Office of the University Registrar.
Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway sets to open on Friday
Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway is expected to formally open on Friday, July 24. According to Department of Public Work and Highways, the project will have its soft opening today, July 22. MCX or Daang Hari South Luzon Expressway is the first Private Public Partnership (PPP) under President Aquino’s administration. The expressway has a 4-line toll and will connect Bacoor Cavite to South Luzon Expressway and vice versa. This will also serve as an alternative route from Cavite to Manila. According to DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, this project will help boost CALABARZON’s status as an investment destination.The project is a private public partnership between the DPWH and Ayala Corporation that costs P2-billion.
No final deal in Aquino-Poe 5-hour meeting
A week after President Benigno Aquino III’s announcement of his ‘anointed one’ for the presidential election 2016, he conducted a 5-hour meeting with Senator Grace Poe on Monday, July 20. Poe said that they did not reach an agreement. She said that she felt Aquino’s difficult position in choosing the administration’s standard-bearer for the 2016 elections, according to reports. Poe also hinted that the 5-hour meeting could be the last conversation between her and the President before the final State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 27. President Aquino has confirmed that his announcement for his chosen successor will be after the SONA 2015.
Torre De Manila case demands lower court trial
The filed case of Order of the Knights of Rizal (KofR) against the Torre De Manila builder DMCI Project Developers can either be dismissed or remanded by the Supreme Court, according to Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio in an oral argument held on Tuesday, July 21. Carpio, along with the other Supreme Court Associate Justices, questioned why the KofR decided to go straight to the Supreme Court, rather than filing the petition in the lower court. The presentation of arguments or the KofR, however ended on Tuesday during the oral argument, but will resume on August 4. It was mentioned before that KofR asked the higher court to tear the building own, due to its alleged violation of national heritage protecting measures. It was added that only schools and government buildings are allowed by the Manila zoning ordinance to construct a building with a maximum of seven storeys.
Toshiba CEO quits over alleged doctored books
The chief executive officer of Toshiba Corporation is set to step down of his position in order to take full responsibility of the alleged doctored books which resulted to inflated profits of the company. The income of the said manufacturer was raised by one 151.8 billion yen. Toshiba admitted the systematic cover-up, which started in 2008, during the financial crisis of the company. Meanwhile, all 48 working reactors of the Tokyo-based Toshiba were pulled offline. The company continues to extend their apologies to their shareholders and customers.
