Climate Change Commission ties up with DLSUD’s ERMAC and BJPC

The Climate Change Commission (CCC) cooperates with De La Salle University- Dasmariñas’ Environment Resource Management Center (ERMAC) and College of Liberal Arts and Communication’s Broadcast Journalism Program Council (BJPC) for igniting their advocacy in combating climate change. The campaign is called “One Million Filipino Youth Voices Campaign” which aims to unite Filipino youth this year by taking ‘selfies’ with their pledges and messages in improving the environment together with their theme “#NowPH.” In line with their advocacy, CCC is going to conduct a seminar in De La Salle University- Dasmariñas in October 10.

Cops bust marijuana ‘plantation’ in Laguna

An 18-year old construction worker was arrested due to the recovered illegal marijuana plantation in his backyard in Laguna province. According to Laguna Police Director Senior Supt. Florendo Saligao, the raid was done in the upland area of Barangay GSIS at about 7AM. The police also recovered 30 newly uprooted marijuana plants and six packs of marijuana and alleged “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride)

Binay’s Camp blasts Lacierda

Head Officer of the Vice President Media Affairs Joey Salgado told Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda to “chill” and stop making a big issue out of the “True” State Of the Nation Address (TSONA) of Vice President Jejomar Binay which was held at the Cavite State University last Monday, August 3. Lacierda earlier posted a picture of a memo requiring all the third and fourth year students to attend the TSONA in his personal Facebook and Twitter accounts. The President of CVSU earlier denied that the memo came from her office.

PH online hiring declines due to weak foreign investments

Philippines online hiring activities is still declining due to weak foreign direct investments, according to global jobs site Monster.com. In the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI) Philippines, Monster said online hiring in the Philippines in June this year has declined 32 percent compared to last year. Data showed that business process outsourcing and information technology-enabled services (BPO/ITES) sector registered the most significant growth at eight-percent over the past years. Monster Employment Index, Philippines is an agency that monitors the career websites at online job posting activity in the country.

2 SEA athletes to be deployed in US

Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association secretary general Renato Uson revealed that athletes Mary Joy Tabal, Edgardo Alejan, and Marestella Torres will be deployed to America for further training. They will be joining the Southeast Asian Games century dash champions Eric Cray and Kayla Richardson together with pole vaulter EJ Obiena. According to Uson, they are already in the process of looking for a suitable place to set up their camp. He added that these players are qualified to join the world championship to be held on August 22-30 in Beijing. These athletes are bound to train for three months and are expected to begin within this month.
