Maynilad announces cancelation of water interruption for next week
Maynilad Water Services Incorporated declared that the scheduled water interruption next week will be cancelled due to nearly finished repair work on selected pipelines in Manila. According to Maynilad, restorations and testing at Hermosa and Juan Luna streets in Tondo are almost done, causing to withdraw the scheduled interruption in the province of Cavite, particularly in Rosario, Noveleta and Cavite City. Maynilad also advised their customers to filter first the water coming from their lines before use.
PSA encourages public to participate in a population census
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) are calling out the attention of the public to participate in the Population Census or POPCEN 2015. Census enumerators will roam to gather the population of the country. According to Josie Perez, PSA Deputy National Statistician for Census and Technological Coordination, it is important to get all the information of every citizen of the country in order to update the population which will be the basis of all the projects and programs of the government such as public hospitals and schools.
Medical experts decline bill, to use Marijuana for medical purposes
Philippine Medical Association (PMA) opposed the bill proposing the use of marijuana for medical purposes. PMA President Dr. Minerva Calimag said that Philippines is not yet ready for such measures. Other doctors also disagree with the proposal because there is no sufficient proof to claim that there are medical benefits from marijuana. However, supporters of the bill insist that marijuana can help treat serious diseases like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Diseases and multiple Sclerosis.
Twitter’s Direct Message feature upgrades to 10,000 characters
Twitter announced that its direct messages feature will be no longer limited to 140 characters but up to 10,000 characters. According to Twitter Product Manager Sachin Agarwal, the changes applied to Twitter users who have Android and Apple devices, and even TweetDeck application. Changes will be implied in the next weeks but for the meantime, tweets will still be limited to 140 characters.
Kobe Paras has a potential to enter NBA — Schmitz
Kobe Paras has a potential to be an NBA prospect, Mike Schmitz said after watching Paras’ play in Adidas Nations camp recently. Schmitz was amazed by Paras’ excellence in playing basketball in spite of being young at the age of 17. He commended that if Paras is willing to work harder to be a best player, the boy has a big chance to be an NBA player someday. Paras was a star player in La Salle Greenhills – Highschool, but transferred to Cathedral Catholic in Los Angeles last 2013.
