CALABARZON targets dot stamp establishments

The CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) seeks for the possibility of accrediting small and medium scale tourism establishments, which will be of up to 40 percent. The plan is targeted to be done before the year ends for it aims to develop the standards set by the Department of Tourism (DOT). A total of 1,800 establishments are in the region, with 20 percent of it in legal and accredited by DOT, as per DOT Region IV-A Director Rebecca Villanueva-Labit. The DOT accreditation is different from the other new star rating system for hug hotels and resorts with 150 rooms. In CALABARZON, 10 establishments only are applying for the new system, including the Taal Vista and Pico de Loro.

MRT-3 to acquire P160M worth of rail grinding machine

The Metro Rail Transit Line (MRT) 3 will have a new rail grinding machine for the possible irregularities of the track. According to the Department of Transportation and Communications, the Joint Ventur of Kempal Construction and Supply Corporation and T-P-E Share Sales Incorporation handed 160 million contract for the machine that will be soon delivered within 360 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. Also, the “Tap and Go” is now available to all MRT-3 stations.

Reason for death of the Saudi National still not confirmed

The Department of Health (DoH) is still undergoing investigation to prove the true reason of the recent death of a 63-year old Saudi Arabian National. According to DOH Secretary Janette Garin even though the symptoms of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (Mers-Cov) were discovered prior the death of the Saudi national it still did not have direct link to the victim’s death. The DoH only received little samples to use in the examination because the body was already flown back to Saudi Arabia and buried due to religious practices. Due to this setback, official cannot pin-point whether or not Mers-CoV killed the victim. In addition to that, DoH said that the victim has a history of having stroke and he also had a minor heart attack before his death. The department also announced on Tuesday, October 6, that all individuals who had contact with the infected Saudi National have been found and are being tested for Mers-CoV infection.

Twitter has launched its newest feature last Tuesday, October 6 called “Moments”. The said feature helps highlights the top stories tweeted for the day. Twitter moments can be seen by tapping the lightning bolt icon tab of the application. “Moments” is a mix of news and any trending twitter topics. Twitter is trying to make its site more appealing to its more than 300 million users.

MAPUA Cardinals pound CSB Blazers; holds high hopes for Final Four spot

The MAPUA Cardinals were now on high hopes as they beaten up De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde (CSB) Blazers in the Elimination Round of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 91 last Tuesday at the Arena, San Juan City with the score 77-72. According to MAPUA Head Coach Atoy Co, the team exerted a lot of effort in achieving their current position with the record 11 wins and 6 loss that’s why there are now in eager to make it to the Final Four. The Cardinals was led by Allwell Oraeme with 15 points and 23 rebounds and with Darell Menina who showered the Blazers with 3-point-shots in the first half of fourth quarter. The MAPUA Cardinals are next to battle Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals on Friday for the final blow of elimination round.
