Chicken, pork prices remains stable for holidays amid strong production

Pork belly retails for P190 to P210 per kilogram, while lean pork meat retails for P180 to P190 per kilogram.
Bicam committee OKs SK reform bill with anti-dynasty provision
The Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act has finally approved by the bicameral conference committee. Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV said that with the anti-dynasty provision, the act will implement the reform through electoral system with the hands of the youth. Those who will be qualified to run for S-K are in age of 15 to 17 years old and 19 to 24 years old.
SINAG urges House reps to pass proposed smuggling commodities bill
Samahang Industriya sa Agrikultura (SINAG) wants the House of Representatives to pass the proposed bill that aims smuggling agriculture products as economic sabotage. Last Tuesday, Abono Party-List Representative Conrado Estrella III filed the House Bill no. 6209 or the Smuggling of Agricultural Political Commodities as a Crime Involving Economic sabotage act of 2015. “While some illegal acts of smuggling are already punishable under existing criminal laws and the Tariffs and Customs Code, the more vicious illegal acts of smuggling such as those of agricultural economic commodities are not sufficiently addressed,” Estrella noted. The House Bill no. 6209 also penalizes the registered owner and those who rent the chartered boat, motorized commercial vessel, wheeler trucks, vans, warehouses port and other properties and personalities that are involved in illegal smuggling.
Filipina skater wins gold medal in 2015 Asian Junior Skating Challenge
A Filipina skater, Charmaine Chua won a gold medal in the recently concluded 2015 Asian Junior Skating Challenge held at the Festival Walk, Glacier. Chua got the highest score with 40.69 in the Basic Novice Subgroup A Girls Group 5 Category, her opponent Yu Jing Zhao of China ended up with a total score of 32.63. Coming in the third place is Jennifer Taniti of Indonesia with 28.35 points. Other participants were Thitirat Samadchai of Thailand, Sophia Ming of Hong Kong and Jing Yi Zhou of China who ended up in the last place. Other skater participants who won gold medals n their respective categories were Amanda Hernandez, Kate Orrock, Ann Cathryn Lagemann and Diane Panlilio.
AirAsia to increase flights from Manila to Hongkong
AirAsia will be increasing its flights to Hong Kong from Manila in timefor the holiday season. The airline said that starting October 25, there will be daily Manila-Hong Kong flights. It flies to Hong Kong from Manila four times a week. AirAsia is offering all-in promo fares from as low as P688 one-way from Manila to Hong Kong for bookings until October 18, 2015.
