CLACSC to facilitate tutorial classes on Oct 14-16
The College of Liberal Arts and Communication Student Council (CLACSC) of De La Salle University – Dasmariñas will hold a tutorial series, titled “Erudition: A Tutorial Series”. The said event will start on October 14, Wednesday, until October 16, Friday. Selected professors, volunteer students and CLACSC officers will facilitate simultaneous tutorial classes on College Algebra and Elementary Statistics at Julian Felipe Hall (JFH) classrooms. The tutorial series aims to challenge students to have higher level of thinking and competency.
Ousted Laguna governor files COC
Ousted Laguna Governor Ramon “ER” Ejercito files his certificate of candidacy (COC), today, for the 2016 gubernatorial race. Aside from Ejercito, five more incumbent governors from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (CALABARZON) are expected to file their COC. Ejercito was found guilty of the campaign overspending on the 2013 polls. However, Ejercito, along with his wife Pagsanjan Mayor Maita Ejercito, will file COC in the provincial office of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Sta. Cruz.
Duterte not running for Presidency
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, October 12, apologized to his supporters as he stressed his decision that he will not run for president in the 2016 elections. Although Duterte closed his doors in seeking the highest post in the country, he said that he still mulls over reelection as a mayor if his daughter does not agree to run for the position. However, Duterte shared that he sees himself ending his public service life in Davao City. This is the second time Duterte made an announcement that he is not running for president; declaring the same decision as “final” and “categorical.”
ARMM Gov’t sets aside P50M for free Wi-Fi
The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) reserves P50 million for the Wi-Fi links expansion under the National Connectivity Program of the Department of Science and Technology. ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman said the fund gathered through the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan Program office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process will benefit the establishing of Wi-Fi areas.
APEC approves road-map for transportation enhancement
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has approved a two-year road map that will improve and provide the needs in transportation status of the countries in the region last Friday in Shangri-La, Mactan, Cebu. According to Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Abaya, A-PEC allotted $1 trillion as the infrastructure investment requirement of the road-map project that will address different issues regarding transportation such as safety and security, resilient infrastructures, green technology and role of women in workforce. The ministers will meet again in 2017 to work towards the further advancement of the transportation sector in the APEC region.
