Comelec may postpone 2016 polls

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista said the 2016 elections may be postponed should the Supreme Court refuse to withdraw its  temporary restraining order (TRO) against “No Bio, No Boto” policy.

Bautista also said that the Comelec will submit its statement to the Supreme Court before the deadline on December 11, to further explain the possible effect of TRO on its “No Bio, No Boto” policy.


 UN IFAD secures P2.6B for Philippine agriculture development

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of the United Nations assures Philippines $55 million for projects aimed to eradicate poverty in rural areas of the country.

IFAD stated that they are set to launch Convergence of Value-Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment (CONVERGE) project and Fisheries, Coastal Resources and Livelihood (FishCORAL) for 2016, specifically intended to assist farmers in the country.


MOCAN alarmed by increasing HIV cases in Cagayan de Oro

HIV cases in Cagayan de Oro continues to increase, alarming Misamis Oriental-Cagayan de Oro AIDS Network leading to campaign condom usage and admittance to free anti-retro-viral vaccine in prevention of the virus.

According to MOCAN Chairperson Fritzie Estoque, men having sexual intercourse with other men remains the top category of infected patients. Estoque worries because their recent research proves that seven out of ten participants are suspected of having the virus whilst one to three results to positive infection.


NBI arrests alleged Enzo Pastor killer

National Bureau of Investigation nabbed the alleged mastermind behind the killing of racing star Enzo Pastor in Cavite, just after the court decided to shelve the case for lack of arrests.

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) tracked businessman Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman III, De Guzman, a suspect in the murder case along with Pastor’s widow, Dalia Guerrero-Pastor, to a hotel in Barangay Bucal around 8 p.m. Quezon City Court has now released a warrant for the arrest of the two next year in August.


PLDT Ultra Fast Hitters beats Philippine Army Lady Troopers

PLDT Ultra Fast Hitters won against Philippine Army Lady Troopers in a three-set match in the Shakey’s V-League season 12 championships at  San Juan Arena.

Alyssa Valdez led the PLDT Hitters with 22-points, 17-kills and two aces, hand-in-hand with Sareea Freeman who focused on defense with six blocks. Abigail Maraño continued to pursue 14-points for the Army, Jovelyn Gonzaga backing up with 13-markers.
