One million people attended 51st IEC
A million people listened to the homily during the closing Mass of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) on Sunday afternoon in Cebu, a report on Unang Balita on Monday said.
The Mass was officiated by Charles Maung Cardinal Bo, the special envoy of Pope Francis.In the homily, Cardinal Bo focused on the family and youth, saying they had a special role to play in spreading the gospel, even to developed nations.
Makati court issues arrest warrant for Trillanes over Binay’s filed libel case
The Makati Court issued a warrant of arrest against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV after a probable cause was found on the libel cased filed by the dismissed Makati Mayor, Junjun Binay.
Lawyer Maricel Cairo, clerk of court of Makati Regional Trial Court 142 said that there was an “order of probable cause” on the said case. Lawyer Claro Certeza, Binay’s Cousel, said they have received the information about the arrest warrant issued to the senator but they have not received a copy of the decision yet.
Syria threatens to leave peace talks with UN
The main delegation of Syrian opposition promised on a meeting that they will not be part of the peace talks if the United Nations will not grant their claims. The opposition threatened that if ever the condition will not be supported; there will be no reason for their group to stay on Geneva, Switzerland anymore.
According to Delegation Chief Spokesman Salem Al-Mislet, they should be talking about humanitarian matters first. Subsequently, they must proceed on the agreements of the UN. In addition, the spokesman said that they only agreed to go to Geneva because of the promised progress on the humanitarian situation.
Roxas, Duterte resumes word clash
Presidential candidate Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte continued their verbal blows, as Duterte called Roxas a “zombie”.

Warriors win over Knicks

Green scored 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as the Warriors achieved their seventh straight victory to their league-leading record to 44-4. After that game, Green admitted that he aims to shoot a triple-double against Philadelphia which drew praise from Coach Steve Kerr. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry, the league’s top scorer, had a quiet night with just 13 points.
