Congress to override veto on SSS pension hike

Militant congress files petition to override the veto of President Benigno Aquino III on the SSS pension hike bill. The motion to override on the plenary will push through once they gather 192 to 200 congresses joining them.

Meanwhile, 2/3 or 192 votes are needed against the President’s veto to increase SSS pension. Similar to the senate, a resolution is also unnecessary.

LTFRB to approve fare rollback for Uber and Grab car

Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) sets hearing schedule for fare rollback on transport network companies such as Uber and Grab car.

According to LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez during the hearing of house committee on transportation, en banc will soon approve the said petition on February 23, 2016. Atty. Vigor Mendoza first filed the petition last January 2016.

Tourist guide falls off mountain by saving two foreign tourists

A tourist guide was critically wounded after saving two foreign tourists on Taraw Mountain in Palawan. The tour guide was identified as Eller Agosto who was accompanying the foreign couple when it fell off the mountain slope.

According to the report, the male tourist was about to propose marriage to her girl friend when he lost his balance. They were caught by Agosto but he rolled down the mountain instead that inflicted serious injuries to Agosto.

Comelec to junk petition vs. Duterte

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) first division on Wednesday announced its decision to junk the four petitions to disqualify Davao city Mayor Rodrigo Duterte from the Presidential race. The cases filed by Elly Pamatong and losing 2013 senatorial bet Rizalito David were dismissed for lack of merit.
