Comelec Commissioner Guanzon opposes BEI uniforms
Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon admits to be against the decision of en banc to allocate P26 million for the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) this coming elections.
According to Guanzon, she was out of the country when the commission en banc passed the implementation of uniforms that she was not able to prevent it.
The lady commissioner also pointed out that such unnecessary expenses should have been used as a fund to increase the allowance of BEIs.
New Zealand remains neutral on tax implementation on sugar drinks
New Zealand government is unfazed over tax-hike proposal for sugar drinks. The group has been encouraging health minister Jonathan Coleman to approve the idea in helping lowering rates of childhood obesity.
More than 70 academics from New Zealand universities have come in protest to implement higher tax on sugar drinks to help eradicate child obesity.
Wakee Salud challenges WBO bantamweight Pungluang Singyu
Filipino promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud, manager of world title contender Marlon Tapales, shared that the Filipino fighter won rights to fight Thailand’s Pungluang Sor Singyu for his mandatory title defense for WBO bantamweight crown.
The said match is expected on June 17 in Thailand.
Tapales was selected as mandatory challenger after a second round knock-out match against undefeated Shohei Omori last February 16 in Kyoto, Japan.
