Behind #walangpasok, PH observed Eid’l Adha

Joining the celebration of the Filipino Muslim Community on Eid’l Adha, Palace declared September 12, 2016 as a Regular Holiday.

Filipino Muslims gathered at Quirino Grandstand early morning of September 12 to offer morning prayers together with their families in accordance with their faith. Aside from Quirino Grandstand, other Muslims went to Blue Mosque at Maharlika Village, Taguig City, and Quezon Memorial Cirlce to commemorate the said religious event.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte also released a statement on Sunday, September 11, 2016 expressing his appreciation on the Filipino Muslim Community on their support to the government and also to its programs in order to achieve lasting peace in Mindanao.

 

Airline companies ban Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units in all flights

Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific and Air Asia ban the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units during all its flights due to safety issues.

Samsung released a recall for all its units of Galaxy Note 7 around the world over the fire-prone issues that the phone units and batteries may cause fire. The phone units are only allowed to be hand-carried but should be switched off at all times. Check in and PAL cargo shipments are also not allowed.
LGBT supporters in Mexico city, marched

Hundreds of gay and lesbian rights supporters marched to metropolitan cathedral, Mexico City after opposing the same-sex marriage, Saturday, September 10.

In connection with this, the demonstrators who participated in the said march brought banners that state “I respect your family, respect mine”.

Norberto Rivera Carrera, Cardinal of Mexico City denied the issue that the reason behind the protest is the Catholic Church. Meanwhile, the aforementioned march was said organized by a catholic organization “font” that was supported by 300,000 people in 16 cities.

 

Tito Sotto, pushes sim card registration bill

Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III filed a bill for the third time. This bill requires users to register their subscriber identity module or SIM cards right after purchasing to trace crimes.

On the Senate Bill number 7, Sotto said they need to present a valid ID before purchasing a sim to trace the number right away if they do such crimes. Still, the telecommunication companies rejected it twice. They said that they respect the public’s way of communicating by using mobile phones freely.

Senator Sotto added that the Government could track all the crimes like bombing, terrorism, blackmailing and kidnapping based on the sim cards they use.

 

Frayna makes PH woman chess grandmaster history

Janelle Mae Frayna makes a Philippine history as she victors to be the first Philippine Woman Chess Grandmaster in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad held at Baku, Azerbaijan, September 11.

20-year-old Frayna draws with International Master Daavademberel Nomin-Erdene as her 33-move triumphs on the 3rd and final Woman Grandmaster results, this led to 1.5-2.5 decision to 15th Seed Mongolia, following the 9th round.

Scoring 6 points out of 9 games, Frayna had 4 wins, 4 draws and only one loss.
