Cayetano “intimidated” over clash with Trillanes
Senator Allan Peter Cayetano voiced intimidation over Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s side comments during his inquiry to Edgar Matobato on the 3rd Senate probe for extrajudicial killings, Wednesday, September 15.
“Madame Chair, it’s on a different matter. My seatmate here is intimidating me.”, said Cayetano referring to Trillanes as he butted on speaking Senator Leila De Lima.
“Madame Chair, I am trying to ask questions. He told me here, ‘Di kita papapormahin,’ and then he tells me, ‘Nabubuo pangarap mo, you are defending evil.’ So, Madame chair, I’m trying to get to the bottom of this, tatabihan ‘nyo ko. ita-trash talk ‘nyo ko,” he added.
De Lima continued to intervene as she asked them to be seated apart.
On Cayetano’s continuance of inquiry, testing the motive of the self-confessed killer Matobato, he suddenly stopped as he accused Trillanes of intimidating him again.
Trillanes complained as he asked if the chance given to question is unlimited, referring to Cayetano’s lengthy inquiry to Matobato,
“ Masyado mahaba, ‘yung pasikot-pasikot, masyadong madaldal. Kumbaga it’s quite annoying and irritating already. Sana he gets to the point,” Trillanes said pointing out Cayetano who is not a probe committee.
De Lima responded that there are 10 minutes given for each senator.
Over the clash, Cayetano chose to change seat as he requested assurance from De Lima to disallow Trillanes of following him.
Investigation continues for Davao bombing suspects
The search for the alleged suspects of the Davao bombing still in the run for investigation, said Chief Superintendent Police Commander, Manuel Gaerlan.
One of the angles that is being considered at the moment was the pronouncement of the extremist group, Abu Sayyaf, saying they were the responsible for the bombing last month in Davao.
“One of the members of the said group were recognized by one of the witnesses through the pictures they released, but we can’t still reveal the name” Gaerlan said.
Police commander Gaerlan had already filed a case of multiple murder and frustrated murder complaints against the suspects.
Moreover, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte announced that she will give 3 million pesos as a reward for the arrest of the suspects.
60 people were injured in the said bombing and 50 were still recovering.
Neri dismisses by Sandiganbayan on NBN-ZTE deal
The Sandiganbayan discharges Romulo Neri, who was accused in the graft case filed six years ago in relation with Arroyo’s administration of National Broadband Network deal with ZTE Corp.
The Fifth Division stated that there was not enough evidence to prove that Neri, ex-director general of the National Economic and Development Authority, gained from the supposedly overpriced contract.
By dismissing Neri of the crime, the court authorized him to file a case for dissolution of the case a year ago.
And through the court’s decision, there was lacking evidence presented by the prosecution.
On the other hand, Neri maintains his innocence that he was not, at any point, part of that group that supposedly gained profit from the mishandled deal.
In addition, the Sandiganbayan can dissolve a case if the evidence of the prosecution is faulty or lacking, even without waiting for the side of the defense.
