The 2018 University Student Elections Debate entitled, Talakay, is happening now at Ugnayang La Salle, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas.
Candidates running for various positions in the university council are expected to present their platforms and views regarding pressing issues in the society.
According to the organizers, the first ever debate held in ULS is for the bigger Lasallian audience and for an intensified presentation of the candidates in which voters will have their final chance to scrutinize the candidates as they go head-to-head in the debate presented by the DLSU-D Student Commission on Election.
“Sa buong history ng SCE, every time, puro Lake Park lang, tapos kadalasan ang audience, small part lang,” a Student Commission on Elections officer said. “First time mag ULS, gusto kasi namin matanggal yung student passivity, gusto namin maging aware sila sa mga nangyayari sa university,” she added.
The format used for the debate is modified in which collegial, institutional, and social issues comprise the vital parts of the debate, in order to satisfy the scarce time without sacrificing the quality of the debate.
With the university elections coming up, the candidates will stand before the Lasallian community through the debate to express their desires to serve and represent the student body.
